Sitting in the plane ... back home
So, back to Europe for me. CFUnited 2008 was highly interesting for me.
I am writing this sitting at the airport in Philadelphia waiting for the flight to Zürich to be ready for boarding.
First of all: Thanks Liz and the people from TerraTech, for the support and for the superb organization of CFUnited 2008. And for beeing able to do the BoF on Railo OS.
Then of course thanks to Intergral. They let me use their booth in order to bring news about Railo to the attendees and to provide some Swiss chocolate.
The Adobe keynote was quite interesting and I was really pleased what Ben Forta had to say about the future of CF9, about the educational free versions and about the announcement of the CFML advisory commitee, well which I am part of now. I will try to keep my promise to help standardize CFML as good as possible so that everyone using CFML can rely on certain things if a engine calls itself a CFML engine. Sean, we need to think about a logo: (Member of the advisory board MOTAB :-))
And in my opinion we need to reach out hands to other vendors (that's how they were called in the keynote) as well. I met Adam Haskell and I must really say that I respect him very much. We did an interview on Railo OS and Railo 3.0 together with Brian Meloche and my good friends Mark and Peter for CFConversation and Adam was very friendly and fair when asking his questions.
I won't say anything about why the advisory commitee has been founded with the people that are now virtually "sitting " in there. I am just glad that I am a part of it and that I can do something for the community. If I read those last sentences again I should consider runing for office ...
Well we'll be back in America for our roadshow of Railo 3.0 starting on July 28th in Washington. I'll let you know in one of my next blog posts where we will be when and who we are visiting.
Let me just say that it was good to see familiar faces like Luis from Coldbox, Oguz, Sean Corfield, (I finally met Ray Camden), Adam Lehman and of course Peter Bell and Mark Drew. Have a lot of fun at CFUnited for the rest of the conference and be so kind to visit Mark's keynote on Railo tomorrow!
